This site has been created to pass on helpful information for others who have been diagnosed with a brain tumor or other types of cancer. My brain tumor was diagnosed as a 5 cm brain mass by a cat scan on September 4, 2008. A seizure on Sept 28 and surgery on September 30 removed a glioblastoma multiform stage IV from my right parietal lobe. A postoperative MRI revealed no remaining detectable tumor cells. We have chosen a rigorous nutritive program to address any possible return of the cancer. My follow-up MRI was on December 1. We are now waiting for a MRS (magnetic resonance spectroscopy scan on January 19 which we hope will give a more exacting look at what might be going on if there is any suspicious cancer regrowth activity but in actuality is just metabolic activity from my body's defense systems fighting against any cancer regrowth.
Update: The January MRI revealed a regrowth of the tumor, 6cm in the same location. On January 29 the tumor was removed and I returned home on Saturday, January 29. It is now Mar. 2 and I am doing well and hope to return to my congregation and pulpit on March 15. We have implimented additional natural therapies and are waiting for more information to determine whether chemotherapy and radiation are absolutely necessary or whether other protocols will be sufficient.
You can follow my journey at our family blog: joelmacdonaldfamily.blogspot.com . At this site you will find details on our nutrition plan and other helpful information in this very interesting journey.
This site will be updated as time allows in my recovery process in hopes that our research and experience will benefit others.
On Feb. 9, 2009 I began an additioal therapy using ruta graveolens and Ca3(PO4)2. You can see a report from the International Journal of Oncology here.
On feb. 26, 2009 I began using Low Dose Naltrexone 3.5mg to boost my natural killer cell production. I will try to add more research under the researh tab but you can start here for now.
Friday, March 6, 2009 - I suffered a seizure and was rushed to the ER of Jefferson Hospital in Philadelphia where a MRI revealed that a tumor has regrown in the same location. We are now searching for an appropriate solution.
Thursday, March 12, 2009 - I began a protocol using a specially formulated and concentrated soy solution by Haelan Research Foundation with the hope that it will shrink the tumor. See site for documented research.
On Monday, March 16 I ceased the soy concentrate because my clinical nutritionist warned me of the fermented concentration and danger of adding yeast microorgainisms to my already yeast infested blood system. On Tuedsay, March 17, she did a live blood cell analysis and verified that I have a major yeast problem which has a distinct possiblity of contributing to the ripe environment for my tumor to grow. On Saturday, March 14, I begain large doses of vitamin C infusions at a rate of 50,000mg 3 times/week. |
